Amayadori is a Canadian, Calgary based startup, providing aesthetic weather shelter products.
The name “Amayadori” was inspired by a visit to a Japanese Garden in Portland Oregon, by Danny (the co-founder), in summer 2023. “Amayadori” means “Taking shelter from rain” in Japanese and relates to something safe and cozy, yet protective when needed.
Amayadori art, Japanese Garden, Portland Oregon:
In our designs, we embody the essence of Japanese minimalism and the principles of Shibui to create a seamless blend of our products with your house’s design, offering protection and functionality.
Shibui refers to a particular aesthetic of simple, subtle, and unobtrusive beauty, which can apply to a wide variety of subjects. Shibui objects appear to be simple overall, but they include subtle details, such as textures, that balance simplicity with complexity. This balance of simplicity and complexity ensures that one does not tire of a Shibui object, but constantly finds new meanings and enriched beauty that cause its aesthetic value to grow. The walk of a fine line between contrasting aesthetic concepts such as elegant and rough or spontaneous and restrained.
